I am writing this approximately 2 years after the "soft launch" of Studio Romance Boudoir. I call it a soft launch because I had already been photographing for 4 years when Studio Romance was born. But in order to completely understand, let me give you a little history.
I started with a small vision in 2009. I wanted to create a work from home space and leave my day job as a Physical Therapist. I had a passion for doing makeup after spending 10 years in the pageant industry competing and learning makeup techniques. I used Craigslist to help advertise makeup services for weddings and fashion jobs. It was not long before I had a willing bride and my first paid job. In the next two years I grew what started as Faces by Joy into a well known, well respected Bridal Hair and Makeup on location service provider.
In 2011, I won Best Makeup Artist by Richmond Magazine. In 2013, my company, Faces by Joy was also featured in print as Bridal "A" lister by Richmond Weddings Magazine. In the several years since starting, Faces by Joy, we also won awards from Wedding Wire including Couples Choice and Bride's choice awards multiple years, including 2016. My makeup and hair styling work as been featured on numerous magazine covers and tons of web sites around the country. I re-branded Faces by Joy to Studio FBJ Weddings in 2014. - I have 10 contractors that do FABULOUS MAKEUP And Hair for weddings! Check out the web site! )
AND BECAUSE absolutely no grass grows under these feet- I kept going....
I began adding beauty contractors to Faces by Joy in 2012, hand selecting and teaching them my techniques as I started moving into photography. This undying passion for photography started in high school and continued through college. I branched this new photography business off from Faces by Joy and named it Studio FBJ. Studio FBJ would become the base brand in just a few years and we would grow all brands from this one base. My High School Senior photography business began to grow at an overwhelming pace along with the bridal makeup business and it became clear in 2014 that I would need to hire my first real employee and we would make our 3rd move into another larger studio that could better accommodate my growing brands.
I dabbled in glamour photography through 2013-2015, something I really loved. It married well with our current offerings of hair and makeup, but I could never really get the style I felt I needed with it. We began offering Bridal Romance Sessions to our Brides in 2013, and sorta kept it within our own studio marketing wise. Two years ago -- everything started to come together. One of our brides requested a glamour boudoir session, and I found my style. I decided to offer romantic style glamorous boudoir. We appeal to women that would like to have soft intimate photos, with a glamorous experience. Luxury and sexy all in one place. We are romantic and spirited, yet comfortable and inviting.
Another brand in 2015? I felt like we needed a special brand for our intimate style photos. Studio Romance was born. We officially launched Studio Romance as a brand in April of 2015. We have been amazingly blessed with our growth and the amount of ladies we have been able to photograph over the past 2 years!
Soooooo i am trying to get a little more serious about this blogging. I have so much to say in my head, but as soon as i get to the keys it seems to get stuck in a blank space somewhere between the memory that I have lost at age 43 and the air between these keys. Nevertheless- I will try.
I would love for you to follow us on Instagram and Facebook- first and foremost- for more behind the scenes and personal looks at what we are doing..... AND come back around here too, I would really like to share my journey as a business woman, entrepreneur, and our client experiences.
